A Washington Post photographer’s excursion into blogging has been short-lived. One of the two people producing “Wal-Marting Across America” has been revealed as Jim Thresher, a staff photographer on the paper.
The idea was to travel across the US in a recreational vehicle camping in the supermarket’s car parks. Sponsorship by Working Families for Wal-Mart was acknowledged but not that the company’s PR firm, Edelman, had paid for the couples vehicle, petrol, food and other expenses.
Wal-Mart is the owner of Asda in the UK. The Washington Post has said Thresher’s activities violated their policy for freelancing for special interests. Online Media Daily has the full story.
